Dong Quai, or Chinese angelica, has been used for over 5,000 years in China and is often referred to as ‘female ginseng’. The plant is a member of the Celery family and has white flowers between May and August. The root is used medicinally.

Side Effects of Dong Quai

Large doses of Dong Quai may cause sensitivity to sunlight in fair-skinned people.

It is also not recommended during pregnancy or when breast-feeding.

If you are using the blood thinning medications, warfarin or ticlopidine consult you doctor before using Dong Quai.

Generally there are no side effects or other contra-indications from using Dong Quai.
